Requirements

At Lander, an applicant is considered a transfer student if he or she has attended another post-secondary institution in any capacity after completion of high school, regardless of whether or not the student earned credit at that institution.

Students who have earned 12 semester hours or more of college-level work (post high school graduation):

2.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale at the last college attended.
Earned at least 12 semester hours at the last college attended; if not, all transcripts from previous institutions will be reviewed
Official college transcripts sent directly from every institution attended
Eligible to return to all previous institutions

Students who have earned fewer than 12 semester hours of college-level work (post high school graduation) and are under 21 years of age must also meet freshman admissions requirements.

Lander University has developed articulation agreements with the South Carolina State Technical College system to improve students’ transition from a technical college to Lander University.

Transfer Pathway Guides

Lander University has developed articulation agreements with the South Carolina State Technical College system to improve students’ transition from a technical college to Lander University.

Below is the Suggested Course Sequence to help students progress smoothly through the technical college of their choice and Lander University to earn both an Associate Degree and a Bachelor's Degree. All courses listed are required for the degrees, except those where a range of courses is available to choose from, or where courses are listed as electives. The course sequence shown is an example and may be modified in some cases. Students should work closely with their advisor to ensure the chosen courses keep them on track for a timely graduation.

How to Apply

After Application is Complete

When will I receive a decision?

Applications are reviewed and decisions are made on a rolling basis. Students typically receive information about their admission status approximately two to three weeks after all materials are received in the Office of Admissions.

How do I reserve my space at Lander?

Lander will email an online commit form to students after they have been accepted. Students must complete the form or email admissions@lander.edu by May 1. All accepted students who are confirmed and registered for housing by May 1 are guaranteed housing.

How do I appeal my admissions decision?

All new students can appeal their admissions decisions to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, Dr. Todd Gambill. Students can contact him at tgambill@lander.edu or (864) 388-8183.

Schedule a Tour

Take the next step and tour our beautiful campus. Lander offers several events during the year specifically for Transfer students.

Transfer Tuesdays are for prospective students to discover Lander and its many opportunities. Students will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from admissions, financial aid, and academic advisement. The day will also include a tour of Lander's beautiful campus and academic areas. Representatives will be available to answer questions, check the status of applications, and advise students on their class schedules.

Transfer Friday offers the same experience as a Transfer Tuesday event, but is offered at the end of the week for your convenience.

Transfer Week provides a longer, more in-depth look at Lander. Students can register for classes (admitted students only); take a tour of campus; and meet with Financial Aid.

Can't come during a Transfer Visit event? No problem. Schedule a visit any time that works with your schedule.

Transfer Credit Evaluation

The list of transfer credits is part of a database containing the Lander University course equivalencies for a number of accredited institutions nationwide.

Please review the transfer credit guidelines below:

A maximum of 90 semester hours of transfer work from regionally accredited community colleges may apply toward graduation requirements at Lander.
- Students graduating with an AA or AS degree from a public two-year college will receive at least 60 credit hours in transfer and shall be given junior status.
For an individual course to be considered as transfer credit, a grade of “C” or better must be attained.
No credit is awarded for developmental courses.
It is important to note that even though a course may be acceptable as a transfer course, it may not be applicable to a specific Lander major, program or degree.
For students transferring credits from a quarter system, each quarter credit is equal to 2/3 of a semester credit. Lander University will multiply your quarter credits by 0.667 to obtain the semester credit. For example, if you took a 4 quarter-credit course, it would be equated to 2.67 semester credits at Lander. A 3 quarter-credit course would be equated to 2 semester credits.
For veterans/active military: Lander accepts American Council on Education (ACE), College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and DANTER Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) credits.
Lander accepts Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge International, Seal of Biliteracy and Dual Enrollment credit. Please note that an official score report for AP or IB credit or a transcript from the college awarding dual enrollment credit must be submitted for credit. For more

Upon acceptance to Lander University, each college transcript will be evaluated. Once completed, the student will receive an email stating that their transfer credits are posted to their Bearcat Web account for online viewing.

Please be advised the list of transfer credits is only a history of how courses have transferred to Lander, and does not represent a comprehensive list of transferable coursework for any school.
