Whether you need a ride to class from your off-campus housing or you need to do some shopping in Uptown Greenwood, Lander provides the transportation you need.

 

Lander Line On-Call

Need a ride? You can now schedule a local pick-up from the Lander Line Monday-Friday from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Simply call Transportation Services at (864) 321-3935. For questions, contact Christy Simpkins at (864) 388-8880. Service begins Wednesday, October 16.

 

BusWhere?

Lander University has partnered with BusWhere? to provide real-time updates of the location of the Lander Line. Request access to the BusWhere for Shuttles app at https://buswhere.com/landeruniversity and use your Lander University email address to receive an invitation via email with a registration link. Follow the instructions in order to track the Lander Line, add favorite stops, and get up-to-the minute arrival times! Download the app!

Bearcat Shuttle

Lander’s Bearcat Shuttle travels a route connecting Bearcat Village and McGhee Court with the main campus. The shuttle offers free, round-trip transportation on a convenient half-hour schedule during daytime hours when classes and activities are in session. 


Pickup from Bearcat Village

Monday - Friday: 7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.
(The Lander Line will run evenings and weekends.)


Pickup from McGhee Court

The shuttle stops at Karen Way after leaving Bearcat Village.


Pickup from PEES Circle

Monday-Friday: 7:45 a.m.- 5:15 p.m.
(The Lander Line will run evenings and weekends.)

  1. Passengers must show the shuttle bus operator a valid Lander University ID to board the bus.
  2. Guest of students must go by LUPD for a VISITOR’s bus pass to board the bus.
  3. No amplified radios or like devices will be permitted. Headphone/ear buds are required for all iPods and/or similar sources of music/video/sound.
  4. Tobacco products are not permitted. No alcohol is permitted. Passengers shall not board the shuttle in an intoxicated condition.
  5. No food or drinks are to be consumed while aboard the shuttle.
  6. No disruptive behavior or inappropriate language is permitted.
  7. The shuttle will follow the designated route and stop at the designated areas. No unauthorized stops or requests for such stops are permitted. Excluding redirection due to extenuating circumstances (i.e. traffic accident, weather, etc.).
  8. Pets or Support Animals are not permitted. Service animals are allowed.
  9. Neither Lander University nor the shuttle bus operator is responsible for articles left on the bus. Items found by the shuttle bus operator will be taken to the University Police Department on campus at the shuttle’s origin.
  10. No weapons are permitted and are subject to criminal charges and policy violations.
  11. No flammable substances.
  12. No containers, bags, or packages that will block any aisles, emergency exits, or stairway are allowed on the shuttle bus.
  13. No littering, discarding, or depositing any trash, debris, or offensive substances.
  14. No spitting, urinating, or defecating.
  15. No damaging, writing upon, or otherwise defacing or altering property.
  16. No fighting or engaging in any violent, tumultuous, or threatening behavior.
  17. No canvassing, soliciting, or distributing pamphlets or other documents unless authorized by a University official.
  18. No gambling or soliciting others to engage in gambling.
  19. Do not engage in any activity prohibited by State, County, or Local law as well as University rules and regulations.
  20. No running or engaging in any horseplay.
  21. Refusing to leave a Shuttle Bus after having been ordered to do so by the operator of the vehicle or a University official will result in disciplinary action and/or criminal action.
  22. No interfering with video recording equipment.

Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the suspension or termination of a student's ability to use the shuttle. All violations of the policy will be reported to the University Police Department, and consequently to the Vice President of Student Affairs office for judicial follow-up. The Lander shuttles do not operate when student housing is closed; during various holidays and breaks; and, during summer sessions. 

Bearcat Transportation System Policies & Guidelines

Lander Line

The Lander Line shuttle service is available seven days a week, making it easier for Lander University students to travel safely from campus to Uptown Greenwood and other nearby areas.

 

Schedule of Service

Monday - Friday:

Departs from PEES Circle
6:15 p.m., 7:20 p.m., 8:25 p.m. 

Bypass Area - Destinations/Route: Greenwood Mall, Westwood Plaza, Greenwood Premiere 10 Cinemas, Ross, Publix, and Bearcat Village 

 
Departs from Bearcat Village
7:00 p.m., 8:05 p.m., 9:10 p.m. 

Uptown Area - Destination/Route: McGhee Court; Uptown Market; Inn on the Square in Uptown Greenwood; then return to campus.

 

*Pick-up for return trips will take place at the same location as drop-off. Final pick-up begins at 9:30 p.m.

 

Saturday - Sunday:

Departs from Bearcat Village
10:00 a.m.

Bypass Area - Destinations/Route: Greenwood Mall, Westwood Plaza, Greenwood Premiere 10 Cinemas, Ross, Publix, and Bearcat Village

Refusal of Service 

The University reserves the right to refuse service to any person who is under the influence of intoxicating beer, wine, liquor or drugs, or who is incapable of taking care of himself/herself due to intoxication, or whose conduct is such, or is likely to be such, as to make him/her objectionable to other passengers or prospective passengers. Intoxicated persons are subject to the laws of this state and county. Lander University Police, Greenwood City Police, Greenwood County Sheriff’s Department or Greenwood Emergency Medical Services may be called for the safety of the intoxicated/incapacitated person and the public.
