A loan is financial assistance that enables students and parents to borrow money from the federal government or private lenders. These loans must be repaid.
Direct Student Loans
- Need based and non-need-based student loans
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Lander's school code is 003435
- Fixed interest rates
- An origination fee will be charged
- Student must be enrolled at least half time
- Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
Parent PLUS Loan
- Loan borrowed by a parent on behalf of a dependent undergraduate student
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Lander's school code is 003435
- An origination fee will be charged
- Credit check is required for this loan
- Student must be enrolled at least half time
- Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
South Carolina Teachers Loan
- South Carolina residents interested in teaching in South Carolina
- Student must be enrolled at least half time
Private Loans
- If the loan is in the student’s name, a cosigner may be needed
- Can only be used to pay for educational expenses, such as tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation
- Options are available for students attending less than half time
Graduate PLUS Loans
- Loan borrowed by a Graduate/Professional student
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Lander's school code is 003435

- Student must be enrolled at least half time
