Financial Aid Next Steps

Congratulations on your acceptance to Lander University! Please make sure to review all the areas listed below to avoid delays with your financial aid. Click on each step for detailed instructions.

Step 1: Accept or Decline Your Aid

Log in to Bearcat Web
Log in with your Lander ID (L#) and your Bearcat Web PIN. Your initial temporary PIN # will be your 6-digit birth date in MMDDYY format. You will immediately be prompted to change your PIN. If you have any issues accessing Bearcat Web, please contact the Lander ITS at (864) 388-8234.

Navigating Bearcat Web
- Click on “Financial Aid”
- Click on “Awards”
- Click on “Award for Aid Year”
- Select Aid Year (2024-2025 begins fall 2024)
- To accept awards, go to “Accept Award Offer”
  - Accept the full award amount by selecting “Accept Full Amount of All Awards”
  - Decline or accept certain awards by using the drop-down boxes then selecting submit decision
  - Accept a partial amount by selecting “Accept” and entering the amount in the “Accept Partial Amount” field

Step 2: Complete Requirements

Log in to Bearcat Web

Click on “Financial Aid”
Click on “Requirements Needed”
Select Aid Year
To complete the requirements, click on the link for each requirement

Step 3: Submit Outside Scholarship Checks

Please have all outside scholarship checks mailed to:

Step 4: Apply for Lander Departmental Scholarships

Using your Lander credentials, log in to Academic Works.
Complete (1) general application and the system will then send your name to the department for any scholarships that you qualify for.
Departments will then make their selections based on specific criteria for each scholarship.
Students will be notified via email if you have been awarded a departmental scholarship. The email will instruct you to complete the acceptance and post acceptance.

Step 5: Student Loans

Federal Direct Loans - If you are accepting a Federal Direct Subsidized or Unsubsidized Student Loan for the first time, you will need to complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Loan Entrance Counseling. More information can be found at Lander | Federal Direct Loan.

SC Teachers Loan Program - Residents of South Carolina who are planning to enter the teaching profession in the South Carolina public school system and who are seeking their first certification may apply for this program. More information can be found at Lander | SC Teachers Loan Program.
