Orientation Leaders

We are currently hiring Orientation Leaders, Team Leaders, and Orientation Assistants. Please review the process below and if you have any questions, please contact orientation@lander.edu or 864-388-8910.

Student Leader staff work for the Office of Orientation Programs. The following qualifications are applicable to all vacant positions.

Qualifications

The ability to serve as a positive role model for your peers and new students and families.
Leadership potential and willingness to accept responsibility.
Good interpersonal skills and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of our campus community.
Genuine interest in helping and sharing your experiences with new students and families.
Good academic and conduct standing with the University.
An enthusiasm for the orientation program, a willingness to be friendly, and an expectation that the experience will be fun!
Applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA.
Applicants must be a current Lander student with at least 12 full-time hours.

Application Process

All interested applicants (both new and returning) are expected to:

Complete an Application
- Applications open: September 11 at 8:00 am
- Applications close: October 12 at 4:00 pm
All applicants must attend an Interest Session. The location for these sessions will be Learning Center room 274.
- September 18 at 5:00 pm
- September 20 at 5:00 pm
- September 25 at 5:00 pm
- September 28 at 5:00 pm
- October 3 at 5:00 pm
Attend and participate in a Group Activity Session
- Group Activity Sessions are October 16 and October 17
Attend and participate in an Individual Interview Session
- Individual Interviews will be conducted beginning October 18 closing October 24
- Special note: RETURNERS will be asked to conduct a 10-minute presentation. You will receive information after the applicant review.
If an applicant does not attend both group and individual interview sessions, the applicant will be removed from the process.
