Are all incoming students required to complete orientation?

Yes, orientation is required for incoming students admitted each semester. Please check out what requirements you have before your Orientation begins by clicking here. You will select the semester that you plan to begin at Lander. You will also be able to register for the event on this page.

Note: Space is limited, so register early as sessions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

For example, if you are a transfer student starting your first Lander course in Fall, click Fall and then the Transfer student tab for information. You will register for your classes during your orientation session.

What is the best way to check out what’s going on?

You can always stay connected with us on social media as well. Follow @landerorientation on Instagram. Also, begin checking your personal and Lander emails for updates!

What can I expect at orientation?

The goal of orientation is to ensure incoming students are informed about academic and campus resources, how to get involved on campus and other information to help you successfully transition to Lander. You will meet with various campus partners and learn the resources that are available to you. This is also the time to meet with academic advisors about your schedule and complete any campus business that’s needed for you (i.e. Financial Aid, Paying Bills, etc.)

Will I still be able to meet with my college/school and academic advisor and register for my classes during online orientation?

You will receive information prior to Orientation from your advisor about registering for classes. It’s important to reach out your academic advisor if you have not completed your schedule before Orientation. Reach out to ssc@lander.edu (864-388-8308) or orientation@lander.edu (864-388-8910) for assistance.

Can I change my major during my orientation session?

If you are concerned about your major choice, you will have time to discuss it with an advisor during Orientation. You can also contact the Office of Admissions who can assist with those changes by emailing Admissions at admissions@lander.edu prior to your Orientation session.

Do I have to pay my tuition during my orientation session?

No, tuition will be due at the start of the semester you are beginning classes. Students are able to set up a payment plan online by viewing the Student Accounts Office webpage. You may reach out to the Student Accounts Office at 864-388-8303 as well.

Is there an orientation program for parents and families?

Yes, Family Orientation is facilitated by the Office of Orientation Programs. You can find more information about Family Orientation here or by contacting us via email at orientation@lander.edu.

When is Summer Orientation for fall admitted students?

Summer Orientation is opened for all first-year students only. Find your session by visiting our webpage for the Orientation Dates. (Click Orientation Dates, and then click on Fall)

Can I switch my session date?

Yes, it depends. If there is space available, you can change your session date. Please contact our office through email at orientation@lander.edu. Please make sure to include your name and L# in the message.

Can I get on a waitlist for a session?

Sessions do not have waitlists. If the session you wish to participate in is full, you should register for a different session. You can continue to check the system to see if a space opens up in your desired session, but the Office of Orientation Programs cannot place you in a session that is full; sessions must maintain caps in order to ensure that all students have quality time allotted during college and advising meetings in preparing to successfully register for your classes.

What if I miss or do not complete my summer orientation session?

If you miss your summer orientation session, you will not be able to register for classes. You will need to contact The Office of Orientation Programs to make arrangements and discuss the steps you need to take to be able to register.

If you register for a June/July session and fail to participate in it, you will need to go contact orientation@lander.edu.

How do I register for summer orientation if I'm an international student (non U.S. citizen, non-permanent resident)?

What is the cost of Orientation?

Your Orientation fees are $120.

When do I pay for my session?

You will not have to pay prior to Orientation. The fee will be added to your overall tuition bill.

Can I get a refund if I cancel my summer orientation session?

There will be no refunds given if you cancel or do not attend the required Orientation sessions.
