Family Orientation is open to family members of incoming Lander students. This will be the opportunity for families to meet with campus partners and learn how their student will be successful at Lander University. During this session, you will hear from the Office of Family Connections on how to engage with campus and how to best support your student during their time at Lander.

Family Orientation is a one-day session and is the first day of your student’s orientation session. Family Orientation is only avaliable for the First-Year, Freshmen summer orientation sessions which are avaliable in June and July each year.

Families must register for Family Orientation. Families may attend for free or purchase additional items through the registration form. You must register to participate no matter which option you choose. Please note that the additional items are avaliable for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out. No refunds will be given; all sales are final.

  • Family Orientation Plus - $40 per person
    This package includes swag items, a t-shirt, continental breakfast/coffee bar, lunch provided, participation in all sessions/concurrent sessions, printed out materials.
  • Family Orientation Free - $0
    This package includes participation in all sessions/concurrent sessions, continental breakfast/coffee bar, and printed-out materials.

Is Family Orientation required?
Family Orientation is optional but highly encourage family members to attend because it there will be an opportunity to meet with campus partners and complete any campus business.


Is Family Orientation in person?
Yes, all sessions are in-person.


Can parents/families join the Freshmen Summer Orientation program?
Families will join students for the welcome session, but following students and families will attend separate sessions.


What is the schedule?
Check-in will begin at 7:30 am and our welcome session will begin at 9:00 am. We will be located in the Grier Student Center/Cultural Center. Family Orientation is a one-day session and will end by 4:00 pm.

Can I receive a waiver for the registration charge?
No, Family Orientation registration cannot be waived.

Registration charges are non-refundable. If you need to cancel your registration, please let us know by emailing


Am I required to attend the same orientation session date as my student?
Yes. It would be easier for families to attend the same session dates as their student.

Where will families stay if they need overnight housing accommodations?
