Family Orientation

Family Orientation is open to family members of incoming Lander students. This will be the opportunity for families to meet with campus partners and learn how their student will be successful at Lander University. During this session, you will hear from the Office of Family Connections on how to engage with campus and how to best support your student during their time at Lander.

Family Orientation is a one-day session and is the first day of your student’s orientation session. Family Orientation is only available for the First-Year, Freshmen summer orientation sessions which are available in June and July each year.

Families must register for Family Orientation. Families may attend for free, but have the option to purchase lunch. No refunds will be given; all sales are final.

    Special Note: Lunch purchases will close at least two weeks in advance. Please make sure to register as soon as possible

  • Session 1: June 24

  • Session 2: June 26

  • Session 3: July 10

  • Session 4: July 17

  • Session 5: July 23

Registration is now open! Families and Friends who wish to participate in Family Orientation, must sign up with their Lander student using the same registration form. Please reach out to your student to access the link.

To purchase meal tickets for Orientation, after completing the registration form, you will be directed to our web store front.

FAQs

Is Family Orientation required?
Family Orientation is optional but highly encourage family members to attend because it there will be an opportunity to meet with campus partners and complete any campus business.

 

Is Family Orientation in person?
Yes, all sessions are in-person.

 

Can parents/families join the Freshmen Summer Orientation program?
Families will join students for the welcome session, but following students and families will attend separate sessions.

 

What is the schedule?
Check-in will begin at 7:15 am and our welcome session will begin at 8:45 am. We will be located in the Grier Student Center/Cultural Center. Family Orientation is a one-day session and will end by 2:00 pm.

 

When will Family Orientation registration open?
Registration is open now!

 

Can I receive a waiver for the registration charge?
No, Family Orientation registration cannot be waived.

 

I need to cancel my registration. May I get a refund?
Registration charges are non-refundable. If you need to cancel your registration, please let us know by emailing orientation@lander.edu.

 

Am I required to attend the same orientation session date as my student?
Yes. It would be easier for families to attend the same session dates as their student.

 

How can I request accommodations if I have a disability?
Please email us at orientation@lander.edu or call our office at 864-388-8156 for any accommodations needed for families or students.

 

Where will families stay if they need overnight housing accommodations?
Families have the option to purchase a hotel room at one of our local accommodations. Please view our list of restaurants and hotels.
