About Us

The Almighty Kappa Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered on May 19, 1973, as the first Black sorority at Lander University. Since its founding, Almighty Kappa Gamma has exemplified the Sorority’s core principles of sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action, while empowering the Lander University campus and the Greenwood community through impactful programming and meaningful outreach.

Our Recent Work

In the 2024–2025 academic year, Almighty Kappa Gamma achieved the highest GPA among all Greek organizations at Lander University, highlighting the chapter’s commitment to academic excellence.

The chapter hosted “RedPrint: Building Your Professional Blueprint,” a business and career fair connecting students with sorors and local professionals. Through “Feeding with Fortitude,” members raised funds and collected food donations for the local soup kitchen, where they also volunteered. During “1913 Seeds for Success,” members promoted personal growth through seed planting and reflection. Almighty Kappa Gamma also partnered with the Greenwood Alumnae Chapter to host a voter registration drive, empowering students and community members to make their voices heard.

Our Mission

Rooted in the ideals of service, scholarship, and sisterhood, the Almighty Kappa Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. continues to uphold the legacy of its Founders, empowering women, supporting the community, and creating lasting impact on and beyond Lander University’s campus.
