Library/Information Commons

The Library Information Commons will be the home of the virtual library; a technology infused service center where information access is the priority. The design will include floor space dedicated to technologically enhanced research areas, collaborative presentation preparation areas, student group break-out areas to improve studying and project development, and small break-out classrooms for small group lecturing.

February 2026 Update: The state-funded Library Information Commons project has officially launched, with Garvin Design Group as architect and J.M. Cope as general contractor. Site work is underway, including area clearing, construction trailer setup, and completion of a new parking‑lot connection to Durst Avenue. Despite early weather‑related delays from heavy rainfall, the contractor has regained momentum and continues steady progress. Greenwood CPW has begun installing the back‑flow preventer vault. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3.

March 2025 Update: Lander has completed the design phase of the building, and plans are currently under review by the state. The General Assembly first awarded funding for this new building in 2022, and once complete, Lander will begin renovating the existing Jackson Library into additional classroom and laboratory space.
