Our enrollment isn’t the only thing that has experienced growth in recent years at Lander University. We’re also growing our campus footprint to offer world-class facilities for our students, faculty and staff. These updates to campus will enhance the academic and student life experience for our Lander University community.
All of Lander’s capital projects are contracted in strict accordance with the South Carolina Procurement Code for Design and Construction. For procurement questions, please contact procurement@lander.edu.
Current Projects
To address the growing demand for more qualified nurses in South Carolina, the state legislature has allocated funds for a brand new, state-of-the-art nursing facility on Lander’s campus. Federal funds were also received to supply the new facility with the most advanced technology in nursing clinical education.
To address the need for more academic space, the state legislature awarded funds to construct a new information commons, which will add new technology and resources that reflect how students and faculty access and evaluate information in the twenty-first century.
Uptown Administrative Building
To address the growing need for additional space on Lander’s core campus, Lander purchased the former Bank of America building in Uptown Greenwood, which adds an additional 18,000+ square feet of multipurpose space for the University community. This space will allow the University to shift some administrative offices away from core campus to accommodate the need for more academic space.
Renovating Jackson Library into Academic Space
Upon completion of the new library building at Lander, the existing Jackson Library will be converted into additional classroom and laboratory space. When the state legislature awarded funds to construct the University’s forthcoming information commons, lawmakers also included funding for the renovation of Jackson Library.
Completed Projects
The University broke ground on this exciting new space in 2021, and officially cut the ribbon in 2024. Replacing Lander’s original outdoor pool, part of the former Sproles Recreation Center, Lander’s pool and pavilion offers students a resort-like experience and a chance to take a break from their academic studies.
Just outside of Lander’s historic dormitory, the new Chipley Traffic Circle brings added beauty and function to Lander’s core campus. New landscaping and a reconfigured driveway makes the space safer and more convenient for both drivers and pedestrians.
As the icon of our University, the bell tower of Laura Lander Hall is one of our most recognizable and most celebrated campus landmarks. This project restored the more than 120-year-old bell tower to its original beauty, ensuring the tower can remain a proud symbol of Lander University for generations to come.
Located in the Grier Student Center, the Dining Hall at Lander recently underwent a complete facelift, including not only a fresh new look, but also an expanded menu that provides more variety for Lander students.
