Lander University offers special undergraduate tuition rates for SC National Guard, Active Duty Personnel, and Military Family Members.

Incoming students who have applied and been accepted into Lander who meet any of the below criteria may qualify for the military tuition rate:

  • South Carolina National Guard
  • Active Duty and Reserve Component with US Armed Forces
  • Veterans with Honorable Discharge
  • Dependents of Service Members and Veterans/Retirees

To apply, students must:

  1. Apply and be accepted to Lander University
  2. Complete the Veterans Tuition Rate Form
  3. Email supporting documentation to veterans@lander.edu. Include the student's L# in the subject line of the email

Graduate students may also qualify for a reduced tuition rate. Please contact your graduate studies program coordinator for more information on how you may qualify.

 

 

SC National Guard Rate

Lander University has a rich history of alumni who serve in the South Carolina National Guard. In addition to our alumni, South Carolina National Guard members make up a significant portion of Lander University's student-veteran population. In order to better serve our state's National Guard members, Lander University is now offering SC National Guard Special Tuition Rate.

* SCNG members may also be eligible for up to $2,250 from CAP. SCNG members must provide documentation from SCNG every semester to maintain Special Tuition Rate. Instructions will be posted. Savings based on full-time, 12-hour course load.

Active Duty Military Rate

Along with our exclusive South Carolina National Guard Special Tuition Rate, Lander University is now offering an Active Duty Rate. Lander defines active duty military as anyone currently serving in the United States Armed Forces, active duty or reserve component.

* Members of all other United States Armed Forces, including reserves but excluding the SCNG, must provide documentation every semester to maintain Special Tuition Rate. Instructions will be posted. Savings based on full-time, 12-hour course load.

Military Family Rate

Lander University is now offering a Military Family Rate. Lander defines Military Family as any spouse, child and legal dependent of someone who has served honorably in the United States Armed Forces. This special tuition rate also includes Veterans who are honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces.

**If you are eligible and approved for Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill or Chapter 35 DEA (VA benefits), and you have the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the VA, that letter will suffice as the primary source of supporting documentation for verification of service for the Veteran/Military member and/or their dependent(s).

Suggested Documentation

To qualify for one of the above special tuition rates, applicants must provide the following documentation to prove military service, including but not limited to:

Active duty: One of the below required

  • Authorized Tuition Assistance form or ArmyIgnitED registration
  • Military Orders within the last year
  • LES within last 3 months
  • Letter from Superior
  • AF Form 899 (Permanent Change of Service Orders) within the last year
  • Enlisted/Officer Record Brief/Data Verification Brief
  • Memorandum of Service
  • Proof of Service Letter
  • Statement of Service
  • VA Service Letter

 

Reserve/ National Guard: One of the below required

  • Authorized Tuition Assistance form or ArmyIgnitED registration
  • NGB-22 (including COS)
  • Military Orders within last year
  • LES within last 3 months
  • Letter from Superior
  • Enlisted/Officer Record Brief
  • Memorandum of Service
  • Proof of Service Letter
  • Statement of Service
  • Letter from VA containing Dates of Service, Branch of Service, and COS, on official Letterhead, dated and signed by a VA official

 

Discharged/Retired: One of the below required

  • DD-214 or NGB-22 (including COS)
  • General/Honorable Discharge Certificate
  • Discharge Certificate
  • Retirement Certificate
  • Orders concerning Discharge/Retirement
  • Letter from VA containing Dates of Service, Branch or Service, and COS, on official Letterhead, dated and signed by a VA official (manager/director)
