With a well-balanced blend of courses in human services, applied psychology, applied sociology and social work, Lander's Bachelor of Science in Human Services degree program trains students in the methods of assisting people in crisis, helping those facing abuse and neglect issues and planning programs to maximize wellbeing at the personal and community levels. Graduates of the program are prepared with the knowledge and skills needed to work in a wide variety of social services and helping environments, such as mental health and health care settings, government organizations and nonprofit agencies.

Careers in high demand

Mental health and substance use challenges remain key problems in our society. Consequently, employment options in Human Services continue to grow due to the needs for social assistance, mental health support, counseling and health care services across socioeconomic classifications. The National Organization of Human Services rates job prospects in the human services field as favorable and expects employment.

A valuable and versatile degree

Upon completion of the Human Services program, graduates will be equipped for employment as Human Services professionals or administrators.

Human Services graduates may seek employment in areas such as child and youth service agencies, mental health facilities, group homes, correctional institutions, health care institutions, or programs related to alcohol and drug abuse, domestic violence, or aging. Graduates are also well prepared for continuing their education in master's degree programs, such as social work, counseling, human services or related fields.
