Merit Pages

Putting Students’ Stories First at Lander University

We are using Merit Pages to share stories of our students’ success while at Lander with students, family, friends, media and more.

Stories we share include:

  • President’s and Dean’s list inclusion
  • Research and academic presentations
  • Internships
  • Awards
  • Volunteering
  • Club recognitions
  • Scholarships
  • Other student accomplishments

From the time students enroll until graduation, they will be able to track their achievements at Lander through a personalized Merit Pages account. This online presence will set them apart as they enter the workforce or apply to graduate school.

Lander’s Office of Marketing and Communications will use Merit Pages to distribute personalized stories. Those stories can then be shared on students’ Merit Pages accounts and can be shared on LinkedIn and other social platforms. Stories will also be shared with family, hometown media outlets and more. Because Merit Pages is maintained by the University, students will be able to retain an individualized list of their accomplishments at Lander with as little or as much personalization as suits them.

How to sign in and personalize your Merit Page

Students will receive a welcome email at the beginning of the academic year inviting them to complete their Merit Pages profile, where they can create an account using their Lander email address. Merit Pages will send a confirmation email to confirm your profile using a link.

What else can you do with Merit Pages?

Your Merit Page will be created, maintained and updated by our University team to ensure your achievements are captured. You will be able to personalize your page with a bio, photos and additional accomplishments like volunteer work, club memberships and achievements, internships, work experience, athletic information and more. You can also connect your Merit profile with your LinkedIn account or other social media profiles.

How does Merit Pages enhance the Lander University experience?

Your Merit profile will showcase how you’ve maximized your time at Lander both in and out of the classroom. Lander University’s Merit Page will be a one-stop-shop for news of our students’ successes, while student pages will reflect those successes on an individual basis.

Sharing your Merit Pages stories will not only showcase your triumphs as a Bearcat, but shine a light on the ways that Lander and our students are making an impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Merit Pages work?

Claim your profile page and customize it with your photo, bio, volunteer work, club memberships, work experience and other extracurricular activities.

When you receive recognition for awards, honors or other achievements, the Office of Marketing and Communications will write a personalized story that will be published to your Merit page.

These stories will be shared with family, local and hometown media, your former high school, and your hometown government representatives. You will be able to easily share these stories to your social media platforms.

How do you access your Merit profile?

Once you enroll at Lander, you’ll receive an initial log in invitation to your University email address, which will allow you to login and create a new, unique password.

How do you determine where to send my stories?

Stories about your successes at Lander are sent to your University email address and are automatically shared with family email addresses provided during the admissions process. Hometowns and state legislators are determined based on the zip code associated with your permanent address or the hometown information you provide in MyLander under the “Student” tab. Stories are also sent to the high school you provided in your admission application.

What about privacy?

Because Lander values our students’ privacy, content shared by Merit Pages will only include information about students that is designated as “directory information” under the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

You can control privacy settings, including how people discover your profile, disable followers and more through your account.

How to opt out of Merit Pages

If you choose not to have your achievements posted to a Merit Pages story or account, you can reply to the email from Merit Pages and request removal or you can contact the Office of Marketing and Communications at marcom@lander.edu. This will remove your Merit profile and prevent future achievements from being published to Merit. This will only opt you out of Merit Pages and will not prevent any of your accomplishments from being published to Lander’s website or other publications.
