SC Institute on Sexual Violence Prevention to be Featured on ‘4 the Record’

WYFF's Nigel Robertson, Anna Catherine English and Matthew HammettThe South Carolina Institute on the Prevention of Sexual Violence on College Campuses (SCIP) will be featured on WYFF News 4’s public affairs program, “4 the Record,” Sunday, April 26, as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month coverage.

The segment, hosted by Nigel Robertson, is scheduled to air at 11:30 a.m. and highlights SCIP’s work with colleges and universities across South Carolina to strengthen sexual violence prevention efforts through education, training and grant funding.

Participants include Dr. Matthew Hammett, executive director of SCIP; Anna Catherine English, SCIP’s advancement and engagement officer; Robyn Sanderson of Anderson University; and Megan Fallon of Clemson University.

The discussion covers SCIP’s formation through Lander University and state leadership, defines sexual violence and features examples of grant-supported prevention efforts at Clemson and Anderson. Participants also outline how institutions statewide can get involved, and how individuals can support prevention efforts.

“Prevention is possible, and this segment highlights the work happening across South Carolina campuses,” Hammett said. “We are proud to partner with institutions committed to building safer campus communities and advancing meaningful, sustainable change.”

Campus partners shared examples of initiatives supported through SCIP’s grant programs, including awareness events, student engagement efforts and prevention education programming designed to meet the needs of their campus communities.

The segment also emphasizes the value of statewide collaboration among higher education institutions and community partners, highlighting how shared resources and strategies can expand prevention efforts and increase impact.

The South Carolina Institute on the Prevention of Sexual Violence on College Campuses was established in 2024 to support colleges and universities in developing and strengthening prevention programs. SCIP provides resources, training and funding opportunities to institutions across South Carolina.
