Terrell A. Turner, CPA, a member of Lander University’s Class of 2007, is a busy man. He serves as CEO of his own accounting firm, TLTurner Group, which focuses on providing bookkeeping and financial services for law firms, and has been nationally recognized in publications like The New York Times.
Beyond running his own company, Turner also hosts multiple vlogs and podcasts, including Law First + Finance, The Law Practice Podcast and The Golden AGE of Business. A nationally ranked CPA, Turner has been named a Top 20 Global Finance Influencer, and has been honored with the Illinois CPA Society’s 40 Under 40 Black CPA Award.
Yet, despite Turner’s busy schedule, he still manages to find time to give back to his alma mater, Lander University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting. His most recent visit to Lander, held Monday, Feb. 9, included two accounting class visits, one management class visit, and meetings with accounting faculty and students… and, of course, a final stop at Lander’s podcasting studio to work on an accounting podcast.
Professors in Lander University’s College of Business and Technology are quick to offer Turner as the model alumnus of their programs – someone who uses his Lander education to blend his personal and professional ambitions into a successful career and rewarding life after Lander.
“Terrell’s journey from Lander to the Big Four, and now as CEO of his own accounting firm, shows our students what is possible when they pair their Lander education with vision and hard work,” said Dr. Gail Moore, professor of accounting at Lander, and an associate dean for the School of Business. “He isn't just a guest; he is an inspiration for our students, showing them what is possible with their Lander education.”
