The Greenwood SC Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Lander University, will offer a Nonprofit Management Certification Course designed to equip nonprofit leaders, board members and staff with practical tools to strengthen their organizations and expand their impact across the Greenwood and GLEAMNS region.
The six-week course will be held Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m., March 13 through April 24, 2026, at Lander University in the Carnell Learning Center, Room 276. Participants who complete the program will receive a certificate of completion.
The program was developed following conversations between the Chamber, the Non-Profit Council and Lander University about strengthening nonprofit leadership capacity in the community.
“When the Non-Profit Council first approached Lander University about the idea of bringing this training to our community, they didn’t hesitate. They understood how valuable it could be for our nonprofit leaders, Board members, and staff, and we’re truly grateful for the time and effort they’ve put into coordinating this program. When our nonprofits succeed, our whole community benefits,” said Trentsie Williams, president and CEO of the Greenwood SC Chamber of Commerce.
The course will be led by Lisa Wyn, a cost reduction specialist, alongside experienced nonprofit professionals who will contribute expertise in governance, finance, marketing and organizational management. Session topics include board governance, program effectiveness, human resource management, leading the organization, financial management, marketing and public relations, sustainability and development, and volunteer management.
Lander University leaders say the partnership aligns with ongoing efforts to support the region’s nonprofit sector.
“Nonprofit Management has been on our radar for several years as an area of possible need in the community, and the Greenwood Chamber’s request served as confirmation. Effective nonprofit organizations always need expertise in subjects like human resource management, financial management, marketing, and legal frameworks. All these areas are existing strengths within our School of Business, and we are more than happy to support the organizations that perform critical work in the GLEAMNS area,” said Lloyd Willis, dean of the university’s College of Business & Technology.
