Proper footwear, toenails, bunions and calluses were all up for discussion Tuesday evening, October 14, as the Lakelands community gathered in Lander University’s Abney Cultural Center Auditorium for the most recent installment of Self Regional Healthcare’s “Medically Speaking” series, offered in partnership with Lander’s College of Nursing, Health Sciences and Human Performance, and the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce.
Titled “Let’s Talk Feet,” the lecture featured three podiatrists from Self Regional’s Advanced Podiatry Associates, located at 1506 Spring Street in Greenwood. Dr. Alexander Barnett, Dr. Kelly Mandile and Dr. Steven Andreasen took turns answering questions, posed by the event’s moderator, Dr. Priya Kumar, Self Regional’s chief medical officer (CMO).
The panel then took time to answer questions posed by members of the audience, which varied widely in subject matter, including guidance on proper callus care and when to visit a podiatrist. Ken Coffey, executive director of the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation, said the discussion was one of the most engaging of the “Medically Speaking” series.
