Rebekah Logan, of Greenwood, has been honored with the prestigious Thayer Award as the standout student in Lander University’s spring graduating class of 2025. This esteemed accolade is bestowed each year upon the graduating student with the highest grade point average (GPA).
During commencement exercises on May 7, Logan was awarded her diploma, symbolizing the successful completion of academic requirements for the attainment of two degrees - a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Music.
In addition to achieving a 4.0 in both fields of study, Logan graduated Summa Cum Laude, and received the Golden L Award for her academic performance in both disciplines.
Logan plans to attend the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University this summer, and has worked as a surgery assistant at Western Carolina Oral Surgery in Greenwood.
During her studies at Lander, Logan served as a tutor and a peer leader for freshmen in the LINK 101 program. Her studies in music led to performances with the Lander Chamber Orchestra and the Lander Strings Trio. As an Honors College student, Logan studied abroad at Santiago, Chile. In addition to her academic pursuits, Logan also worked as a black belt instructor at a local martial arts school.
