Alyssa Bowen, a junior 3-D visual art student at Lander University, had one of her photos featured in the Fall 2024 edition of Analog ForeverMagazine, a journal dedicated to contemporary film and analog photography.

“I had my portrait students submit their work to Analog Forever Magazine for a group exhibition and Alyssa Bowen’s piece, ‘Open,’ was selected,” said Jon Holloway, professor of art at Lander. “Congratulations, Alyssa, on this achievement.”

On learning of her photo selection, Bowen said, “When my professor sent me an email about it, I was in disbelief. I had to be convinced several times by my friend that I was selected. I was overwhelmed with joy and excitement. It is an honor to be selected among such amazing work.”

Bowen explained that the inspiration behind “Open” came in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which had recently swept through the region. “I wanted to convey a feeling of loss and the sense of uncertainty that so many people experienced during that time,” she shared.

Looking ahead to her plans after graduation, Bowen said she plans to pursue a master’s degree in 3-D visual arts and become a professor of sculpture.

Reflecting on her time at Lander, the Belton native said, “Lander has given me the opportunity to create the Art Club and meet the most amazing people. I now consider Lander home.”
