As the semester wraps up and graduation nears, Lander University’s seniors gathered Monday evening, April 8, for a senior picnic sponsored by the Alumni Association. The students shared a meal on the front lawn of the University’s campus, had cold treats from an ice cream truck and played lawn games together.

Sussy Garcia, a nursing student from Chapin, said while eating with friends that it felt surreal knowing graduation was so close. “We used to talk about like, ‘How are we going to get through this, this is crazy, this is the next four years of our lives,’ and all of a sudden, we’re here, we’re about to graduate.”

Lander will hold commencement for students on May 1.
