Students, faculty and staff at Lander University stand in solidarity against acts of domestic violence by observing Purple Day on Thursday, Oct. 17. Members of the Lander community were invited to wear purple on campus to raise awareness of domestic violence in the United States. The Department of Justice estimates that 1.3 million women and 835,000 men are victims of physical violence by a partner every year. In addition to sporting purple attire, students also held a candlelight vigil on the university's plaza later that evening.
