Lander University alumnus Steve Bolton, '69, recently returned for the 2019 Homecoming Week to honor his class's 50th reunion, and to meet the current Bearcat tennis team.

Bolton, who now lives in Florida, is a member of Lander's original tennis team from 1968-69. Because of his financial gifts to Lander over a period years, one of the tennis courts in the Jeff May Sports Complex is named in his honor.

When asked what it was like to be back, Bolton said it was "unbelievable" to see how far the tennis team has come in 50 years.

"It was coach Finis Horne's vision to form the team in 1968-69, and we started out in the NAIA," Bolton said. "And to see what it is today with 12 national championships, a fantastic facility, and to know that we had a small part in it all, it's really great."
