Calling all Bearcat Fans! Lander University's Office of Alumni Affairs is hosting a fun event providing Lander fans the opportunity to show their school spirit while enjoying great music and fellowship with the Greenwood community.
Lander Bearcat Fan Day is scheduled for Thursday, April 26, from 5-7 p.m. at the Greenwood Uptown Market, located at 220 Maxwell Avenue.
The festivities will take place in conjunction with Greenwood's "Uptown Live" spring concert series, featuring musical guest Eloveation. The Greenwood-based, high-energy cover band will begin performing at 5:30 p.m.
The event and concert are free and open to the community, and attendees are encouraged to wear their Lander gear or school colors of blue and gold. Folding chairs are permitted in the market area, and local vendors will be on site selling food and beverages.
Bearcat Fan Day is Link 101-approved for Lander students, and the university's Lander Line shuttle will be available to provide transportation to and from the Uptown area for students, faculty and staff (must have Lander ID). Public parking is also available adjacent to the Uptown Market, as well as along Maxwell Avenue and in nearby Uptown lots.
In celebration of the evening, the Bearcat topiary - a mainstay of the South Carolina Festival of Flowers topiary lineup - will be on display during the event, and the university's Bearcat mascot will also be in attendance for photos with guests. University representatives will be giving away Lander-themed goodies, and the school's student-athletes and cheer and dance teams will be on hand to meet and interact with fans.
"We hope to have all Lander Bearcat fans join us for an evening of family friendly fun in support of Greenwood's hometown university," said Denise Manley '89, Alumni Affairs executive director.
