Lander Presents Emerging Keyboard Artist Recital on November 9

Lander University's Department of Music presents the Emerging Keyboard Artist Recital on Thursday, Nov. 9 featuring performances by pianists Angelina Ning, of Charlotte, N.C., and Caleb Connor Borick, of Charleston.

Angelina Ning, age 13, began playing piano when she was five and is currently studying with Steinway Artists Dr. Marina Lomazov and Dr. Joseph Rackers. Ning made her orchestral debut with the Alicante Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Uri Segal in July of 2015.

The young artist has been awarded top prizes in numerous competitions including the 2017 Peter Perret Youth Talent Search Concerto competition; 2016 Carmel Klavier International Piano Competition in the intermediate solo and concerto divisions; 2016 North Carolina MTNA; and the 2016 East Carolina University Young Artists Competition.

She recently performed Mendelssohn's Concerto in G minor with the Winston-Salem Symphony orchestra. Ning's selections for this performance include pieces by Frederic Chopin, Mozart, Doug Opel, and Maurice Ravel.

Caleb Connor Borick, age 14, studies piano under Dr. Joseph Rackers. Borick has performed in music festivals, concerts and competitions across the country and internationally since the age of five.

The young piano virtuoso has appeared on WPR's "The Midday with Norman Gilliland" and NPR's "From the Top." Borick will perform selections by Ludwig van Beethoven, Frederic Chopin, and Bach-Busoni.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the community. The concert is FALS-approved for Lander students.
