Department of Music to Present "Chamber Strings"

Lander University's music department will present the concert "Chamber Strings," on Tuesday, April 5, at 8 p.m., in Lander's Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium.

The program will feature works by Johann Christoph Bach, Sibelius, Mozart and Handel.

Amy Blackwood, Lander music lecturer, staff pianist and string-area coordinator, said winds and brass will join the strings on all but one selection. The performers are current Lander faculty and students and members of the community.

She added that works will include Handel's "Watermusic Suite," which contains recognizable pieces often heard at weddings.

Dr. Pawel Kozak, an adjunct violin and viola instructor at Lander and Presbyterian College, is the director, assisted by Blackwood.

Admission to the concert is free but donations to Lander's scholarship fund will be accepted.
