Lander Police Let Their Beards Grow to Help Student Wellness Center

The members of Lander University's police department packed away their shaving gear for the month of November to raise funds for the university's Wellness Center.

Capt. Vernon Peppers said 10 officers donated $20 each for the privilege of letting their beards grow for a month, resulting in a $200 donation to the Wellness Center fund.

Their effort was part of the national "No Shave November" campaign to raise funds to promote prostate cancer research and men's health awareness. But the officers decided to direct their donations to the Wellness Center to help underwrite medical expenses for Lander students in need.
