Sam Kinard, of Hodges, recently retired after serving as a custodian at Lander University for 10 years. The most outstanding quality of "Mr. Sam," as he was affectionately known, was humility, according to custodial department superintendent Dana Price. "No matter what the task, and there are some very unpleasant ones as a career custodian, Sam was always ready, willing and able," Price said. He added, "Sam's quiet, steady nature was a calming force on the custodial crew and will be sorely missed."
