Lander University’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Early Childhood Education is designed for individuals who aspire to make a lasting impact on the lives of young children. Whether you are a recent graduate, a career changer, a current school employee or someone seeking a meaningful new profession, this program provides a pathway to South Carolina teacher certification in Early Childhood Education (PK–3).
Delivered fully online, the MAT offers the flexibility working professionals need while maintaining the high-quality preparation expected from Lander’s CAEP-accredited College of Education. Students gain an advanced understanding of child development, evidence-based teaching practices, literacy instruction, assessment, classroom management and curriculum design, preparing them to become highly effective educators in today’s classrooms. The program is specifically designed for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree and want to earn teacher certification while pursuing a master’s degree. The program includes meaningful field and clinical experiences that connect theory to practice. Candidates complete at least 75 hours of field experience prior to student teaching and finish the program with a full-time clinical practice experience in a PK–3 classroom.
