Graduating seniors in the Department of Public Health of Lander University’s College of Nursing, Human Performance and Health Sciences recently were awarded pins and pink cords in recognition of their academic achievement, service and leadership over the course of their studies.
The presentation of cords at Lander began in 2024, but the awarding of pins was a first for the Class of 2026, said Dr. Claire Mensack, Public Health program coordinator and assistant professor of public health at Lander.
“The cords and pins reflect our graduates’ commitment to improving the health and well-being of others,” Mensack said. “They also symbolize the lasting impact they are prepared to make as they step into careers dedicated to serving the greater good.”
Cords signal that a student has gone above and beyond in specific areas, while pins mark a student’s transition from learner to emerging public health professional, she said.
“It is an honor to recognize our graduating seniors in this meaningful way,” Mensack said.
