Lander University has welcomed Dr. Stephen Bismarck to his position as dean of the College of Education. Dr. Bismarck joins Lander from the University of South Carolina Upstate, where he previously served as chair of the Education Department, and interim associate dean of the College of Education, Human Performance and Health.
“Lander University’s College of Education has a strong reputation of producing classroom ready teachers for South Carolina’s classrooms, and we have a deep network of alumni working in all levels of education throughout the state and beyond,” Bismarck said. “I look forward to serving as the dean of the College of Education at Lander, and shaping future teachers for rewarding careers in education.”
Prior to Bismarck’s career in higher education, he taught high school and middle school mathematics in Athens, Georgia, and Port Orange, Florida. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Georgia, and received his graduate and undergraduate degrees from Coastal Carolina University.
“Dr. Bismarck’s extensive experience in the field of education makes him a perfect fit for Lander University,” said Dr. Richard Cosentino, Lander’s president. “We are fortunate to have his leadership at Lander, and we are confident that his expertise as an educator across a variety of academic settings, from middle school to higher education, will help prepare Lander students for success in their own classrooms across South Carolina.”
