Giving the Gift of Education: Carlee Stockman

Carlee-Stockman.jpgWhen you give to Lander University, you’re not making just another charitable contribution. You’re helping young people live their dreams.

Carlee Stockman, a senior nursing major from Greenwood, South Carolina, said being a nurse is a dream she’s had since eighth grade. Thanks to the generosity of Self Regional Healthcare, Stockman received the prestigious Self Scholarship as a junior, and is now a CARE student at Self Regional. Through the CARE program, Stockman is gaining real-world experience in the healthcare field and earning money to assist her financially while she completes her nursing degree.

Stockman is also a recipient of the Bob and Helen Eisenbeck Scholarship and the Enid Benjamin Nursing Scholarship. Stockman recently expressed her gratitude to her scholarship donors during the annual Eleanor Teal Scholarship Banquet at Lander. These scholarships, in total, have alleviated financial stress for Stockman while studying at Lander, and have allowed her to focus on doing what she loves: providing quality care to the Greenwood community.

“I want to give my future patients the best possible care they can receive,” Stockman said, “and I want to have such an impact on them that they will always remember the care I provided them. Receiving scholarships from Lander University has meant more to me than I can express. I always say that the scholarships I receive are turning an eighth grader’s dreams into a reality.”

You, too, can help students at Lander University fulfill their dreams through a rewarding education. On Tuesday, Nov. 28, The Lander Foundation will host its 24-hour Day of Giving. Your contribution, no matter how large, can help caring future nurses, like Stockman, launch successful careers.
