Lander's SAT PRO Prepares Students for Scholastic Aptitude Test

Lander University will offer a special course beginning July 15 and continuing through Aug. 5 for high school students who plan to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scheduled for next fall.

SAT PRO is a small-group, fast-paced preparation course whose enrollment is limited to 15 students and will concentrate on the particular skills that students most need to develop. The focus will be on test-taking strategies, covering key mathematics and critical reading and writing concepts that are included on the SAT. The course will also assist students in developing a targeted approach for each question, and discuss when to guess and how much time to use on each part of the process.

The fee is $180 and covers the cost of a book, 32 hours of instruction and four practice tests.

The course will focus on test-taking strategies, including review of key math, critical reading and writing concepts that are covered on the exam. Students will also examine how the SAT is written to develop a targeted approach for each question type,

The instructors are Lander faculty members Dr. James Anderson and Gina Dunn. Anderson is an assistant professor of English and English education. He has over 10 years of experience teaching secondary and post-secondary English, including helping students develop skills in reading, writing and test-taking.

Dunn is chair of Lander's Department of Mathematics and Computing and an assistant professor of mathematics. She has nearly 20 years of experience preparing students for the SAT.
