Lander Art Gallery to Host MFA Art Exhibit

The community is invited to join the Department of Art + Design at Lander University for a reception with student artists featured in the MFA Art Exhibit Thursday, March 28 at 5 p.m. Artwork by MFA candidates Kelsey Wise and Katherine Rumminger will be on display beginning Tuesday, March 26, through Thursday, April 4. The reception, and visits to the gallery, are free and open to the public.

Art by Katherine Rumminger

Katherine Rumminger: “‘Common Ground’ is a collection of handmade sculptures depicting familiar imagery in uncanny ways,” Rumminger said of her work featured in this exhibit. “Through ‘Common Ground,’ I seek to better understand myself and relate to others. Through common objects, I seek common ground.”

Art by Kelsey Wise

Kelsey Wise: “My work gives reverence and simultaneously rebels against the way fear has impacted my life,” Wise said. “Humor, confrontation, obsession and reckless abandon are tactics I use in both my art process and the design of the work itself. This entire exhibit is an act of reverence to my own messy relationship with the life and the fear I have experienced.”
