Students had a chance to socialize with other recipients, as well as McWherter, while enjoying refreshments in the Lois Grier Room of the University’s Grier Student Center. “It means a lot for us to be partners with Lander,” said McWherter. “The University is doing amazing things and it’s evident. You don’t have to take but a step or two on campus to see all the ways that Lander is prospering. It’s a privilege for us to be a small part of that.” Photo by Deb Nygro

Lander University’s student recipients of scholarships funded through The Abney Foundation had a chance to meet with Dr. Lisa C. McWherter, vice chairman and executive director of The Abney Foundation.

Students socialized with other recipients, as well as McWherter, while enjoying refreshments in the Lois Grier Room of the University’s Grier Student Center. “The scholarship really takes a lot of stress off my shoulders,” said Brett Gregory, of Spartanburg. Georgia Salley-Oliver, of Greenville, added that “it was nice to be able to focus more on my education.”

“It means a lot for us to be partners with Lander,” said McWherter. “The University is doing amazing things and it’s evident. You don’t have to take but a step or two on campus to see all the ways that Lander is prospering. It’s a privilege for us to be a small part of that.”
