The TLTurner Group, founded by Lander University alumnus Terrell A. Turner and his wife, Lola Turner, is featured in The New York Times.

The couple's accounting and finance firm in Charlotte, N.C., is included in a feature, titled "100 Black-Owned Businesses You'll Love," sponsored by Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), the life insurance and financial services company.

The May 25 feature coincides with an in-depth article by The Times on the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa "Black Wall Street" Massacre in Oklahoma. As many as 300 people were killed and the Black businesses and homes in the prosperous 35-block area were destroyed.

MassMutual highlighted a wide range of businesses, including food, beauty, health, the arts, technology, creative and legal services, real estate and construction. The TLTurner Group is listed in the "Tech, Financial Services & More" section.

Jacqueline Wiggins, a business planning attorney at MassMutual, says in the post, "One hundred years ago, there was silence from the general public … No one did anything. But today, there's action. Black-owned businesses are deserving of support. If we keep up the momentum, more Black-owned businesses will thrive - and our entire economy will expand."
