In addition to earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Lander University, Greenwood native Amber Lee was also presented with the Thayer Award for having the highest grade-point average (GPA) among her fellow graduating seniors.
Lee graduated Lander with a GPA of 4.0,
The presentation was made Wednesday, Dec. 18, during Lander's 160th commencement ceremony in Finis Horne Arena.
The family of Dr. Henry Thayer established the Thayer Award at Lander in 1986. It is presented each semester to a Lander student who earns at least 60 credit hours at Lander and graduates with the highest GPA.
Since enrolling in Lander, Lee continually excelled academically. She was named to the President's List numerous times - a feat that requires maintaining a 4.0 GPA - and showcased her research findings at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research.
Lee has been accepted into the Master of Social Work program at the University of South Carolina. Her career goal is to become as licensed psychological social worker.
