On January 22, Lander students Courtney Cannon (left), a political science major from Mauldin; Kathryn Strahl, a criminology and sociology major from Elgin; and Kathryn Wypasek, a criminology major from Upper Montclair, N.J., discuss their participation at the National Education for Women (NEW) Leadership conference at Winthrop University. Dr. Lucas McMillan, dean of Lander's College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Lander, moderated their presentation. Through a sponsorship supplied by Duke Energy, the students were selected to participate in the conference, which is designed to encourage college-age women to become state leaders in elected office, government agencies, and both volunteer and not-for-profit organizations.
