Breanna Butler, a secondary English education major from Bradley, won top honors in the "Connecting to Education" segment of this year's Student Academic Symposium, one of nine sessions and panels in which Lander University students presented their research, art and other academic work before faculty members, fellow students and members of the community.

Associate Professor of English Dr. Lillian Craton, who serves as coordinator for the symposium, called attendance at this year's event "excellent, and the quality of presentations was among the best we've seen! This is a great opportunity for students to practice their professionalism and work on their comfort with public speaking. And, of course, it adds a brag item to their graduate school applications and resumes."
