It was part of a program organized by Winthrop University's John C. West Forum for Politics and Policy, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to improving civic engagement.

Greenwood Lander Performing Arts will raise the curtain on its 66th season with a performance by Dailey & Vincent, described by music critics as the "hottest band in bluegrass." The duo and the four members of their band will take the stage of the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium at Lander University on Monday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m.

Seven members of Lander University's Reserve Office Training Corps (ROTC) unit boarded a helicopter that landed on campus today and were whisked off to a casualty evacuation training session at the Whitten Center in Clinton. Another five cadets, who have not signed ROTC contracts yet, were taken by motor vehicle to the training site.

Lander University has announced seven appointments to the Board of Trustees of The Lander Foundation, which was created in 1948 as the policy-making board of the university. In 1973, it was reorganized into an independent, non-profit organization responsible for receiving, managing and investing gifts for the welfare of the university.

Early in July she was informed that she was the recipient of Lander's coveted Thayer Award presented on behalf of the family of Dr. Henry K. Thayer to the graduating senior achieving the highest scholastic average.
