
Lander University’s new Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Wellness is designed to prepare a workforce to help individuals, families, and communities maintain personal health.
Lander University’s William Preston Turner School of Nursing will begin teaching courses in the new Bachelor of Science Health Promotion and Wellness major starting fall 2020. Health promotion and wellness professionals emphasize improvements in diet, activity, behavior, and attitude to promote wellness and prevent illness.

This high-demand, market-driven degree is designed to prepare a workforce to help individuals, families, and communities maintain personal health. Graduates will be qualified to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist Exam. After completing a bachelor’s degree in health promotion and wellness, students may pursue a graduate degree in public health.
What courses will I need to take?
A bachelor’s degree in health promotion and wellness includes courses in statistics, anatomy, physiology, health education, and program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Students also pursue coursework in public health topics such as social determinants of health, community health, epidemiology, health promotion, and disease prevention.
What is the career outlook for individuals Bachelor of Science degree in HPW?
A bachelor’s degree in health promotion and wellness prepares graduates for a position as a health educator. Health educators work in hospitals, public health agencies, nonprofit organizations, or businesses.
