Homecoming Week 2021 

October 25-30, 2021
“Night of the Living Bearcat”

Alumni can get connected to classmates by visiting the Office of Alumni Affairs for a list of activities.

Night of the Living Bearcat- The Fall 2021 Homecoming Theme will scare the fur off your claws. This theme is based on the American celebration of Halloween. Participants are encouraged to highlight their ghoul spirit in the creepiest way possible. From classic horror movies to modern video game characters and so much more, show your scary side at the Night of the Living Bearcat events.

Overall first place winners of the Homecoming competition for the Blue and Gold will win the Bearcat Cup and $500 in programming funds to be used before the last day of classes of the spring 2022 semester!



Monday, October 25

Medallion Hunt Begins

One medallion will be hidden on campus or in the Greenwood city limits each day. Clues to where the medallion is hidden will be released on @lander_student_activities Instagram at 12:00 p.m. each day. Participants must return the medallion to the Department of Student Life to receive points for that day.

Banner Competition
Grier Student Center Commons – 5:30 p.m.

Teams will show off their creativity by making a banner that shows Lander spirit! Banners will be displayed in the Commons all week! 

Strongest Bearcat
Abney Cultural Center Auditorium - 6:30 p.m.

Come out and support your fellow Bearcats during the “Strongest Bearcat” Powerlifting Competition. The meet will allow each participant three attempts at the Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift combined. Join us as we determine the strongest male and female Bearcat.


Tuesday, October 26

Homecoming Service Event: The Homeless Period Project Begins

Teams participating in Homecoming will have the opportunity to gain additional points by donating money to the Homeless Period Project. The Homeless Period Project mission is to provide menstrual hygiene products to those in need while educating and advocating to end the stigma of menstruation. ( All donations will need to be made online through using this link. The link will open Tuesday, October 26th at 8:00 am and close at 8:00 pm Thursday, October 28th!

It's the Great Pumpkin
Grier Student Center Commons – 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. 

Teams will present their scariest, funniest, and most original pumpkins on the Plaza.

Hocus, Pocus and Chill Movie Night
New Residence Hall Field – 8:30 p.m. 

The Lander Theater will be presenting “A Quiet Place”.  Doors will open at 8:00 pm, and the showing will be start at 8:30 pm. Students must wear a mask to enter and have their Lander ID.

Bearcat Monster Mash Talent Showcase
Finis Horne Arena – 8:30 p.m.

Come see the talent that abounds at Lander! 


Thursday, October 28

Spellbound Sports Kickball Tournament
New Residence Hall Field - 5:00 p.m.

Groups of 6 will get ready for an evening under the lights to compete in a bracket style tournament of kickball.  There's no crying in kickball!


Friday, October 29

Phantom Hour Games
Abney Cultural Center Auditorium – 3:00 p.m. 

Teams will compete in a variety of games. The event will be live streamed on Instagram (@lander_student_activities) for everyone not participating.

Moonlit Masquerade Semi-Formal
PEES Gym, 8:00 p.m.

Tonight's the night to get your scare on! Party all night in your best Halloween costume. There will be photo booths and refreshments available.


Saturday, October 30

Nightmare on Montague Street Tailgating
Lander Athletic Complex Intramural Field - 12:00 p.m.

Join us for tailgating and more as we cheer on our Bearcats as Men's Soccer plays Flagler University at 3:00 p.m.  

Tailgating rules can be found in the Homecoming Packet. Food trucks will be available!

Homecoming Court Reveal will be at the Van Taylor Stadium following the game as well as our winners of the Bearcat Cup and Programming Funds. In the event of inclement weather, the King and Queen will be announced following the Volleyball game on Friday.
