RID graphicThis session will explore the poetry of celebrated African Americans such as Langston Hughes, Countee Cullen, James Baldwin, Marilyn Nelson, Natasha Tretheway, and Gwendolyn Brooks. How do these poets give voice to the African American experience? How can your own experience be captured by writing poems? Join this workshop to read an assortment of African American poetry and to practice writing a poem of your own.
