The artwork of three students from Lander University is now on display in a juried art exhibit at a North Carolina visual arts center.
The exhibit, "100 Miles," features designs by talented young artists from colleges and universities within a 100 mile radius of the Bascom Center for Visual Arts in Highlands, N.C. Each student artist was paired with one of their professors, and both the student and professor submitted original works of art.
Lander art students Ashley Dever, Stacie Lazo and Katherine Rumminger were among 20 collegiate artists selected to show their pieces in the exhibit. Dever was paired with Sandy Singletary, interim dean for the College of Arts and Humanities; Lazo was paired with Asma Nazim-Starnes, associate professor of art; and Rumminger teamed up with Doug McAbee, associate professor of art.
"This is such a prestigious moment for these students and our department," said McAbee. "Lander was the only school with three students selected for the show."
McAbee continued, "A juror selected these artistic works from a very select group of art students representing 12 institutions in the region, including Clemson and University of Georgia."
The "100 Miles" exhibit is on display until March 22 at the Bascom Center for Visual Arts, located at 323 Franklin Road in Highlands, N.C.
