Some 200 college students from across the state participated in the South Carolina Bankers Association's (SCBA) "Banking Careers 101" program, held on February 12 in Columbia.

Eight business students from Lander University attended the educational program, which is designed to help those who are interested in banking, finance and accounting learn more about the banking industry.

"A networking lunch gave students the chance to interact with professional bankers," said David Bell, lecturer of business at Lander University. "These connections may prove to be invaluable when our students begin their careers in banking."

In addition to networking with financial professionals, students gained insight into the banking industry during sessions that focused on areas such as lending, deposit operations, branch management, asset/liability management, investments, and information technology.
