Clay Creations at Monsanto Art Gallery Exhibit

A new exhibit, known as "Interpretations in Clay," is now on display at Lander University's Monsanto Art Gallery until October 4.

The community is invited to explore the exhibit during normal gallery hours and join other art lovers for a special Artist Talk on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m., followed by a reception in the art gallery. The display showcases a collection of ceramic artwork by 15 prominent artists from around the region who use clay to create unique works of art.

"Clay is a fantastic material to work with because it is incredibly versatile and comes in a multitude of colors," said Jon Holloway, director of the Monsanto Gallery. "It can be used in a vast array of applications and has a long history as an art making media."

Exhibiting artists for "Interpretations in Clay" are Deighton Abrams, Daniel Bare, Emily Connell, Jim Connell, Diana Farfan, Nathan Goddard, Doug Gray, Bri Kinard, Brent Pafford, Elaine Quave, Virginia Scotchie, Sandy Singletary, Paula Smith, Denise Woodward-Detrich, and Valerie Zimany.
