Health Care Recruiters Meet with Lander Nursing Students during Career Fair

Representatives from 15 hospitals and other organizations visited the Lander University campus on Wednesday, Sept. 26, to woo nursing majors for post-collegiate careers. Organized by Lander's William Preston Turner School of Nursing and the Department of Career Services, the Nursing Recruitment Fair was held in the commons area of the Grier Student Center.

Carlisle Baker, a human resource representative with AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson, confirmed the appeal of Lander nursing graduates to medical employers. "I attend 15-20 nursing career fairs each year, and Lander students strongly distinguish themselves. They're obviously prepared, knowledgeable, and have a reputation for going above and beyond in delivering patient care," she said.

Another impressive factor favoring Lander nursing graduates is the school's reputation for having a 95 percent passing rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN), an element that plays strongly in the decision for students interested in nursing to decide to attend Lander.

"I toured a lot of colleges throughout the state during my senior year, and Lander made the strongest impression through its nursing simulation technology, its commitment to helping students prepare for the NCLEX exam, and the small town feel of Greenwood," explained Brady Mason, a junior nursing student from Lexington.
