The first day of courses brought new class schedules, textbooks and activities for students at Lander University. In addition to coursework, emphasis is placed on welcoming upperclassmen back to campus and helping freshmen adjust to the transition of college life.

Scheduled activities include the opening of the remodeled Bearcat Lounge in the Grier Student Union; CommUniversity, an annual event in which Lander students learn more about local businesses and organizations in the Greenwood community; and a summit featuring the more than 60 student clubs and organizations.

While classes have begun, the academic year officially kicks-off with Opening Convocation, Tues., Aug. 28 at 3:30 p.m.
