Lander conducted a national search to fill the position when it was announced that Randy Bouknight, who served in the role since 1979, would transition into the role of special assistant to Lander President Richard Cosentino.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Dr. Yarbrough to our university and the Greenwood community," said President Cosentino. "During our national search, he clearly distinguished himself with a focus on student success by being an engaged leader and providing direction to others while leading by example."

A native of Atlanta, Dr. Yarbrough's experience is a blend of multiple aspects of the higher education sector, including student life, administration, career services, community relations, housing and residence life, dining services and public safety. He most recently served as vice president of Student Affairs at Cleveland State University in Ohio since 2013. Before that, he served in a multitude of leadership roles at Furman University over 14 years, including serving as special assistant to the president for Strategic Planning, assistant vice president for Administrative Services and director of University Housing.

"Lander is exactly where I want to continue my career in Student Affairs. I look forward to being a part of Lander and the Greenwood community" said Dr. Yarbrough. "It is a public university on the rise, which aligns with my values of providing quality education at the most affordable price. I'm energized to be joining Lander, and look forward to serving as a fierce advocate for students by developing a student-centered culture. I look forward to working with all students to ensure that they are challenged and supported to realize their potential, as well as feel valued from their recruitment through graduation and as alumni."
