mlk-TN.jpgThe community is invited to attend the 3rd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Unity and Prayer Celebration at 8 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Lander University. The event was originally scheduled for earlier in the month but was postponed due to hazardous winter weather conditions.

An enlightening program on "Unity and Diversity" begins at 8 a.m. in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium. The event features inspirational musical performances by the university's Minorities on the Move Choir, followed by reflections of keynote speaker Dr. Linda Dolny, Chair of Lander's Board of Trustees. Special guests include Mamie Nicholson, Lander Trustee Emerita; Lander President Dr. Richard Cosentino; and The honorable Senator Floyd Nicholson.

Sponsored by Lander's Division of Student Affairs, the MLK Unity and Prayer Celebration is one in a series of special events and programs held for students and the community in honor of February's Black History Month.
