Lander Athletics is proud to introduce the "Bearcat C.L.A.W.S. Program" -- a new initiative that focuses on enhancing student-athlete experiences during their Bearcat careers and beyond.

The program focuses on five different aspects of the student-athlete experience: Career development, Leadership development, Academic excellence, Welfare and Service.

C.L.A.W.S. offers a host of career development opportunities, including required etiquette dinners for juniors and seniors, one-on-one resume' development and graduate school preparation, Linkedin trainings and interview preparation.

One of the new programs created by C.L.A.W.S. is the "Bearcat Pride Cup Challenge," a competitive challenge among the student-athletes intended to generate more participation in PRIDE events, promote student athlete involvement in department and campus-wide programming, community service and leadership opportunities, as well as help them prepare for life after collegiate sports. C.L.A.W.S. has also partnered with the One Love Foundation to help prevent relationship violence and inspire student-athletes to be part of a movement for social change.

Academic excellence through C.L.A.W.S. is made possible by a partnership with the Lander University Academic Success Center. Both sides work continuously to determine how the needs of the student-athletes can be met, particularly in terms of being flexible with tutoring times that do no not conflict with games and/or practice.

C.L.A.W.S. has been instrumental in partnering with Greenwood District 50 for their morning basketball programs. Members of the Lander men and women's basketball teams have joined students at Rice Elementary School to help set up and oversee basketball games before the start of the school days.

If you are interested in partnering with C.L.A.W.S., please contact Taunita Stephenson, Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success, at tstephenson@lander.edu.
